Pokémon - Wikipedia. Pokémon(Japanese: ポケモン,Hepburn: Pokemon, Japanese: [pokemoɴ]; English: )[1][2][3] is a media franchise managed by The Pokémon Company, a Japanese consortium between Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures.[4] The franchise copyright is shared by all three companies, but Nintendo is the sole owner of the trademark.[5] The franchise was created by Satoshi Tajiri in 1. Pokémon", which humans, known as Pokémon Trainers, catch and train to battle each other for sport.
The franchise began as a pair of video games for the original Game Boy that were developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo. It now spans video games, trading card games, animated television shows and movies, comic books, and toys. Pokémon is the second best- selling video game franchise, behind only Nintendo's Mario franchise[7] and the highest- grossing media franchise of all time. The franchise is also represented in other Nintendo media, such as the Super Smash Bros.
Cumulative sales of the video games (including home console games, such as Hey You, Pikachu! Nintendo 6. 4) have reached more than 2. In November 2. 00. Kids Entertainment, which had managed the non- game related licensing of Pokémon, announced that it had agreed not to renew the Pokémon representation agreement. The Pokémon Company International (formerly Pokémon USA Inc.), a subsidiary of Japan's Pokémon Co., oversees all Pokémon licensing outside Asia.[9] As of March 2.

Super Bowl 5. 0, issuing re- releases of Pokémon. Red, Blue, and Yellow, and completely redesigning the way the newest games are played.[1.
The mobile augmented reality game Pokémon Go was released in July 2. The first seventh- generation games Pokémon Sun and Moon were released worldwide on November 1. A live- action film adaptation based on Great Detective Pikachu began production in 2. The English slogan for the franchise is "Gotta Catch 'Em All".[1. Name. The name Pokémon is the romanizedcontraction of the Japanese brand Pocket Monsters(ポケットモンスター,Poketto Monsutā).[1. The term Pokémon, in addition to referring to the Pokémon franchise itself, also collectively refers to the 8. Pokémon media as of the release of the seventh generation titles Pokémon Sun and Moon.
Pokémon" is identical in both the singular and plural, as is each individual species name; it is grammatically correct to say "one Pokémon" and "many Pokémon", as well as "one Pikachu" and "many Pikachu".[1. Concept. An animated history of how Satoshi Tajiri came to conceive Pokémon. Tajiri first thought of Pokémon, albeit with a different concept and name, around 1. Game Boy was first released. The concept of the Pokémon universe, in both the video games and the general fictional world of Pokémon, stems from the hobby of insect collecting, a popular pastime which Pokémon executive director Satoshi Tajiri enjoyed as a child.[2. Players are designated as Pokémon Trainers and have three general goals: to complete the regional Pokédex by collecting all of the available Pokémon species found in the fictional region where a game takes place, to complete the national Pokédex by transferring Pokémon from other regions, and to train a team of powerful Pokémon from those they have caught to compete against teams owned by other Trainers so they may eventually win the Pokémon League and become the regional Champion.
These themes of collecting, training, and battling are present in almost every version of the Pokémon franchise, including the video games, the anime and manga series, and the Pokémon Trading Card Game. In most incarnations of the Pokémon universe, a Trainer who encounters a wild Pokémon is able to capture that Pokémon by throwing a specially designed, mass- producible spherical tool called a Poké Ball at it. If the Pokémon is unable to escape the confines of the Poké Ball, it is officially considered to be under the ownership of that Trainer. Afterwards, it will obey whatever commands it receives from its new Trainer, unless the Trainer demonstrates such a lack of experience that the Pokémon would rather act on its own accord.
Trainers can send out any of their Pokémon to wage non- lethal battles against other Pokémon; if the opposing Pokémon is wild, the Trainer can capture that Pokémon with a Poké Ball, increasing his or her collection of creatures. Pokémon already owned by other Trainers cannot be captured, except under special circumstances in certain side games.
If a Pokémon fully defeats an opponent in battle so that the opponent is knocked out ("faints"), the winning Pokémon gains experience points and may level up. When leveling up, the Pokémon's battling aptitude statistics ("stats, such as Attack and Speed") increase.
At certain levels, the Pokémon may also learn new moves, which are techniques used in battle. In addition, many species of Pokémon can undergo a form of metamorphosis and transform into a similar but stronger species of Pokémon, a process called evolution. In the main series, each game's single- player mode requires the Trainer to raise a team of Pokémon to defeat many non- player character (NPC) Trainers and their Pokémon. Each game lays out a somewhat linear path through a specific region of the Pokémon world for the Trainer to journey through, completing events and battling opponents along the way (including foiling the plans of an 'evil' team of Pokémon Trainers who serve as antagonists to the player). Each game (excluding Sun and Moon) features eight especially powerful Trainers, referred to as Gym Leaders, that the Trainer must defeat in order to progress. As a reward, the Trainer receives a Gym Badge, and once all eight badges are collected, that Trainer is eligible to challenge the region's Pokémon League, where four immensely talented trainers (referred to collectively as the "Elite Four") challenge the Trainer to four Pokémon battles in succession.
If the trainer can overcome this gauntlet, he or she must then challenge the Regional Champion, the master Trainer who had previously defeated the Elite Four. Any Trainer who wins this last battle becomes the new champion.
In Sun and Moon, however, the Gym Leaders are not present, and are instead replaced with "Trial Captains", a NPC who gives the Trainer a challenge to complete so as to earn a special item. Once the player completes all of these on an island, the Trainer must take on the Island Kahuna, the strongest Trainer on the island. Once the player beats all the Kahunas, he must travel to the recently built Pokémon League, where he must re- defeat two of the Kahunas and two strong Trainers, who now form the Elite Four, and then defend his newly received title against challengers. It is implied by Takeshi Shudo, the initial writer for the anime, that the creators of Pokémon had not anticipated the franchise would become so popular, and there were plans to end the series by the Gold and Silver era. In his blog, Shudo reveals he even had an ending drafted for the anime, in which the last episode reveals an elderly Ash Ketchumhallucinated the entire events of the show.[2.
This is supported in an interview with president of The Pokémon Company, Tsunekazu Ishihara, who predicted the anime would end by 1. He also stated he initially did not intend on making "any more Pokémon titles" after Gold and Silver and would have moved on to other projects. However the games' success following their release prompted Ishinhara to continue work on the series.[2. Video games. Generations. The original Pokémon games were role- playing games (RPGs) with an element of strategy, and were created by Satoshi Tajiri for the Game Boy. These RPGs, and their sequels, remakes, and English language translations, are still considered the "main" Pokémon games, and the games which most fans of the series are referring to when they use the term "Pokémon games".
ARK: Survival Evolved - Part 2 - Multiplatform. Thanks Obey, I know it shows up in the browser but just was not sure how much traffic you wanted. I use Black. Box.
Servers. http: //blackboxservers. Very few issues. Easy to manage mods.
The only problem I've encountered was when Ark does a bigger update (original map + The Island) where every single structure disappears and I have to roll back the server, then sometimes it'll load only 1 type of structure e. Very annoying. Scorched Earth seems pretty stable so far though. I might open it up to some whirlpool players, but I'll check with the other people I play with first : )an. I might open it up to some whirlpool players, but I'll check with the other people I play with first : )Would be potentially interested : ) I only play with 1 other person at the moment. We're trying to find a nice 'Home' server haha!
Atm we're bouncing around all over the shop! Check your PM's Thurst, sent you the details. Logged in this morning to find my fox with his crocodile dundee hat and my morello are both gone. Nowhere to be found : ( Bit disheartening. My GF and I have been watching a lot of vids of this game in past few weeks and really want to get it and start playing this weekend. Anyone have a recommended server for beginners?
Not sure what map we want to play on yet or how that works, do you have to start a new character on level 1 if you change map/level? Anyone have a recommended server for beginners? I can recommend a server run by Obey. The. Fist which is called Scorched Perth. It's a PVE server so no need to worry about getting killed by other players and every person I have encountered on there has been very helpful.
I had never played prior to playing on that server so I had tons of questions. Afaik yes moving servers resets you back to lvl 1. It may be worth the 2 of you playing together on your own server so you can get a handle on the game and its mechanics. Hey Mate,I started playing probably two months ago, have loved it ever since. I started playing on 'The Center' which was a free dlc map.
Not sure if it still is. That was awesome. I would suggest starting on a PVE server as well, there are heaps within the internal server browser for ARK. I would advise playing on a server which has increased rates (by this I mean, you gather resources faster, you tame dino's faster and you level up faster).
Just means you don't need to sink as much time into it. DWhat's the Scorched Earth optimization like on PC? Barely any trees to render. Barely any water to render. It's just sand, rock and sky. Finally killed a rock elemental and wow did I get a surprise when its corpse yields Crystal, Metal, Obsidian, Oil, Stone, and Sulfur. One stop shop! I can't stand the SE wyverns compared to the Annunaki versions so hard to aim/hit anything. Ravensbane writes.. Runs much better for me than the vanilla map.
Just had to find a sweet spot with the settings. Cheers, I might get it : )GT writes.. I can't stand the SE wyverns compared to the Annunaki versions so hard to aim/hit anything. It's a balance thing. Not being able to aim/hit a target reliably is hardly "balance" imo.

Was just looking at upcoming patch notes and saw this. Upcoming Version: v. ETA: October 1. 0- New Feature: Procedurally Generated ARKs! EXPERIMENTAL INITIAL TEST! Would this be procedurally generated as in by a seed number like in other games?
So randomised maps? Would be amazing if so.
Anyone played a Procedurally Generated Ark map yet? Anyone played a Procedurally Generated Ark map yet? Oh thats enabled now? Will have to check it out. Just loaded Steam to find a 3.
Ark, so probably is nowan. Just loaded Steam to find a 3. Ark, so probably is now.
Yup. Got about 3. Managed to have a go of a randomised map last night. Took ages to generate which is understandable I guess. Used to relying on the spawn locations being Easy, Hard etc. This time picked a south one and got dumped on a snowy island quite far from main land with a t- rex and few woolie mammoths. Tried swimming to main land and got eaten by a large fish/dolphin thing.
That was the extent of my playing. Will try more today if I get a chance. I love starting out on Ark, that's the survival- est part of all, when you have nothing and everything is a threat, you have to build yourself up from nothing until you're safe. Bloodmonkey Full Movie In English.
Unfortunately, flying critters make the game too easy – as soon as you have one tamed flier, the game is easysauce. I'd love to run a game where there's no fliers. It would be a lot more challenging. Obey The Fist! writes.. Ark, that's the survival- est part of all, when you have nothing and everything is a threat, you have to build yourself up from nothing until you're safe.
Totally agree. The earliest phases where you have basically nothing and everything is dangerous is one of the best survival experiences out there. The game bogs down once you start the super long tames or are having to protect your base somehow while you sleep. Obey The Fist! writes.. I'd love to run a game where there's no fliers. It would be a lot more challenging. Scorched Earth actually helped with this since it removed two of the flyers. They could have gone further and remove the argy as well leaving just the Moths and Wyverns.
I just bought this 5. USD)Is there any aussies that play this? Maximo. 10. 1 writes.. I just bought this 5. Is there any aussies that play this? Amazingly low price considering how rich and complex and detailed the game is. Plenty of Australians play it.
If you want my advice, the best way to find Australians is to pick good private servers – you can tell the aussie hosted servers by the low pings in the server browser. The official servers are very griefy and there's no telling where the players on them will be from. Did you get your face eaten off by a dinosaur the first time you tried to play?
First time I played Ark, was my 2nd time ever using a Steam Controller, so many things were weird. I need to try setup a good control scheme with that first, then start learning the game)I first died of starvation since the berries didnt seem to do much for the food. Then my 3 year old son wanted me to go see the dinosaur which was a Dilophosaur which I proceeded to bash with my care fists. I killed it. Not long after another one did kill me. Loving it so far, even though I have only played maybe 3. How does the leveling work?
Is each server a new character starting at 1? Maximo. 10. 1 writes.. I first died of starvation since the berries didnt seem to do much for the food. You did good, usually it's a dino that gets you. You need to eat 1. Eating raw meat will damage your health. Do not eat the black narcoberries.
They put you to sleep, which will kill you. These are used for knocking out dinos so you can tame them. The white stimberries feed you but make you thirsty. The other berries are all fine and are just different colours so you can make paints with them. Maximo. 10. 1 writes..
