Suspect: Laura Joyce, 2. Today, Joyce, who is eight months pregnant was escorted to a courthouse in the Majorcan capital Palma along with four other suspects - all believed to be British. The five suspects were later pictured leaving the courthouse, one of them making a rude gesture at photographers as he exited. Spanish police officials have also released pictures and video footage of their operation at the sprawling villa in Bendinat where Joyce was arrested on Tuesday. The video footage show officers rifling through drawers and inspecting paperwork before sitting down at a table where they were filmed talking to British suspect Laura Joyce.
How nice: Two of the five suspects, who are all thought to be British migrants living on Mallorca, are seen outside court in Palma. The Essex- born mother- of- two looked tired as she was taken to court, her baby bump clearly visible under her pink and purple dress. Two other women and two men were also taken into court one- by- one with a police escort. Sources close to the case confirmed today that Ms Cameron had been released following police questioning and a night in custody. Brits abroad: Joyce and her mother Deborah Cameron, 5.

No details on the nationalities of the other four people taken to court, who are all thought to be British, have yet been made public. Earlier this summer it was revealed that hundreds of food poisoning claims lodged by British holidaymakers were being investigated by authorities in Majorca. The claims are thought to cost the Spanish hotel industry £5. It came after lawyers acting for the Mac Hotels group handed police a dossier suggesting its losses alone could be as high as £4million – with 2. Ms Joyce is suspected of hiring club PRs as touts to entice British tourists into fabricating or embellishing symptoms of gastric illness to get compensation. Arrests: Another two women were taken to court along with Ms Joyce today Shamed: In total, five people - all believed to be British - were taken to the court hearing.
Officials confirmed today they had searched six homes and two other properties in the municipalities of Calvia and Palma. A spokesman for the Civil Guard said today that they had been investigating the group since May.'The Civil Guard received several complaints from witnesses and hotel directors in Alcudia who said British tourists were falsely claiming compensation for food poisoning they had suffered during stays at all- inclusive hotels.'Those holidaymakers were signed up by a group of people known in Spain as tiqueteros [promoters] who orally or using written promotional material, approached the tourists near hotels and offered to manage their false claims and advised them on how to proceed when they got back to their home country which was normally the UK.'This practice was repeated every summer, leading to the claimants and their representatives earning money from the hoteliers and tour operators who had to pay out on the claims.'The Civil Guard consequently put this group of people under surveillance, resulting in the arrests of seven individuals and the search of six homes and two commercial properties in Calva and Palma in which documentation was seized along with computer equipment. Deborah Cameron, 5. Laura Joyce, 2. 8, (right) have been arrested.
The pair were arrested at this luxury family home in the upmarket suburb of Bendinat on the Spanish island earlier this week'The investigators estimate that the fraud could reach more than 6. Spain in a three- year period.' The Spanish government's delegation for the Balearic Islands added in a separate press release that they are blaming UK law for being at the root of the problem because it allowed compensation claims with very little evidential proof to back them up to be accepted as genuine. Computers and bundles of documents were seized in raids on properties and businesses on Tuesday morning. Searches are understood to have taken place in the glamorous marina of Puerto Portals and the exclusive nearby residential area of Bendinat – where retired English footballer Jamie Redknapp owns a villa with his estranged wife Louise. The mother and daughter suspects had last night not been charged. A judge is today expected to decide whether or not to release the pair as the investigation continues. A source said: 'The arrests have followed months of investigation by the Civil Guard following complaints from hoteliers.'A wealth of material including computers and documents have been seized and is being analysed by experts.'East London- born Mrs Cameron, who owns a nightclub and runs an events business, has written online about her 'fantastic' lifestyle abroad.
Laura Joyce's husband Stuart, who witnessed her arrest, runs Heroes Sports Bar in Portals Nous near Bendinat (pictured)The pair were suspected of being ringleaders and hiring club PRs as touts to entice British tourists into fabricating or embellishing symptoms of gastric illness to get compensation. She said: 'I live in a beautiful house in Mallorca which overlooks the Mediterranean Sea.'I have three wonderful children, two adorable grandchildren and great friends, I'm living a fantastic, fulfilling life and every day is another step on an incredible journey.'Joyce has been described as a nightclub and pub owner in the popular party spot of Magaluf. Her Leicester- born husband Stuart, who witnessed her arrest, runs Heroes Sports Bar in Portals Nous near Bendinat. Last night he said: 'We're not saying anything at the moment.' His wife had denied any involvement in the scam earlier this week when a Spanish- language local newspaper reported a car belonging to one of her firms had been used by compensation touts urging holidaymakers to make false illness claims. The expat admitted the vehicle was hers but said that particular business 'had been closed for three years'. In June a British man was arrested in Majorca on suspicion of encouraging tourists to make fake food poisoning claims. It was not clear if Tuesday's operation was linked.

Most (but not all!) of our customers are caring for someone who is at risk of wandering – whether because of dementia, Alzheimer’s, autism, stroke or any other reason. If you can relate to this then you can probably also relate to the sheer panic, hassle and constant worry that such situations bring. The police are often called to help in the search, there’s the usual emotional complexities (and conflicts!) of families, and of course the daily demands of caring. Our Personal GPS Trackers for dementia and Alzheimer’s won’t solve everything – but they’ll certainly bring some much needed peace of mind by helping with the problem of wandering. You can get an instant location whenever you need one, on your mobile phone or by logging into a website on a computer.
The GPS Trackers are packed with great functions like SOS buttons which send instant location text alerts (and call the carers), and alerts if the person wanders too far (so you can know where there are – and also when they wander). You can configure everything by text and be fully in control of what it does – there is no outside reliance on call centers.
Your choice of GPS Tracker will depend on the person you are wanting to track. The GPS Watch Tracker is a small wrist band which might be a better option if the person is used to wearing a watch.
Because it is also a watch, it can be worn as part of a normal routine. Please note that the tracking functionality is totally discreet on all our GPS Trackers, so the person won’t become confused. Other family members may want to use the GPS Tracker, so you might need to give them access. This is easy to do. The Stray Star personal GPS Tracker allows anyone to make a location request via text. Three phone numbers can also be notified of alerts or receive SOS alert texts if the SOS button is pressed.
The GPS Watch Tracker will allow 4 people to receive SOS alerts, and again anyone can text it for a location request. The GPS Trackers are easy to use! You just need to know the text message command to send to get an instant location reply.
Once you’ve used the Tracker a couple of times you’ll see how easy it is! All of the other functionality is thoroughly explained (e. We also have good troubleshooting guides for each tracker, with tips and easy fixes for any common misunderstandings. Many of our customers aren’t particularly computer savvy, they are just regular decent folk looking for a solution to a difficult problem. When caring for someone with dementia, Alzheimer’s, autism or with any risk of wandering, there are already plenty of emotional stresses and concerns.
We’ve tried to make things as simple as possible by including free SIM cards with our GPS trackers, and step by step guides to follow so that there’s no room for confusion. We’ve also outlined the “essentials” in the manuals for people who just want to get up and running asap. But if ever you do get stuck, you can always get in touch and we’ll help out. More Feedback for our GPS Trackers.
